  • Can I please read this book?

Here in the UK, it is very hard to get a copy of this book for under £25. I have requested on the Amazon.co.uk site that a Kindle edition be published (giving the scarcity of this book) but I fear that it may take some time.

So, here I am. Pleading with you to please, please make this book available to those who wish to pay a fair price for it, and not an exorbitant amount as listed on Amazon.

May this reach the necessary people promptly! and if not... please log onto Amazon.co.uk and request the publisher create a kindle edition.

    That is all, thank you.

  • Zizek and the critique of political economy

Against his friend and comrade Alain Badiou, Slavoj Zizek has been arguing strongly for the need for a return to Marx's critique of political economy—as borne out by his engagement with value theory and Moishe Postone's work in Living in the End Times. But what are we to make of Zizek's own understanding of value theory, when he claims that, strictly speaking from a Marxist perpective, Chavez's Venezuela is "exploiting" the US through oil rents?

  • German source for this?

What is the German source for this? Is this in Adorno or Horkheimer's collected works? A Suhrkamp publication? Archival? Or is there a recording? I'd like to read or hear this in German.

BTW: Livingstone is an excellent, excellent translator.

  • Owen Jones LIVE on Chavs: The Demonization of the Working Class

I will be answering questions about Chavs: The Demonization of the Working Class on the discussion board on Tuesday 28 June, from 12 noon (BST). Post your questions here in advance, and please join us on the day.

    From my latest blog post:

“In his review of my book, Michael Collins suggests that the ‘chav’ word is somehow outmoded. I strongly disagree. Its usage remains prevalent: whether in daily conversations or internet forums. But above all the use of  ‘chav’ caricatures—whether the actual word ‘chav’ is invoked or not-is still rampant. The idea that we're all middle class, apart from a feckless, work-shy rump living on ‘sink estates’ is embraced by politicians and journalists alike. The reality of Britain's working-class majority remains absent from our TV screens, newspapers and from our politicians’ speeches.”
