  • Distributing OCCUPY

I saw that this text is to be distributed free at occupy sites. I'm with Occupy PDX and how can I get involved in getting this important book out there?

  • Why Lenin Was Right?

This is a great book to learn why Lenin was right and to understand  why Marxism would not be an actual matter and would not be practicized properly as an proletarian theory  in the age of imperialism without Lenin. In a sense, he was Marx of new epoch. It was who was also open the way to Stalin, who was the gretaest leninist, among the availables, of the period of real foundation of communist society. Who was the first founder of communist society. Lenin had saved Marx to retain a mere academic issue in hands of "marxist" academicians. Today we can not find true answer to the question of "why Marx was right" of academic marxists, if we do not read him through Lenin.   Verso should publish these old classics with a new translation.

  • A new translation

It is very good idea to publish again these old titles. Thank you. However, it could be better idea to make a new translation of (at least some)  books which were translated from foreign languages. Or, at least their translations should be reviewed. The other publishers currently do that( e.g Oxford Univ Press' newly translated world classics). Especially, possibilities of literally translation from french to english may cause problems. Another thing, I could not see any information in the book regarding from which language  it was translated. There is a original german title in the book but cannot be referred to a book title from which the translation was made. Finally, when publisher needs to write something about the book on back cover, must not direct readers in direction of its own ideological prejudices. Let it to readers to make their own minds. I think that cover writings are also from the old edition.

  • Communism, A New Beginning?

Slavoj Žižek hosts a conference at Cooper Union in New York, to discuss the continued relevance of the communist idea.

“The long night of the Left is coming to a close” wrote Slavoj Žižek and Costas Douzinas in their introduction to The Idea of Communism. The continuing economic crisis, the shift away from a unipolar world defined by American hegemony, and the ecological crisis mean that growing numbers of people are keen to explore an alternative, and to rediscover the idea of communism. With the advent of the Arab Revolts, millions have sought new ways to overcome corruption and dictatorship—and they've now been joined by the wave of occupations in the US, challenging runaway inequality and the power of corporations and the super-rich.

Friday, Oct 14, 6–9pm EDT: Slavoj Žižek, Frank Ruda, and Alain Badiou read by Bruno Bosteels.

Saturday, Oct 15, 10am–1pm EDT: Bruno Bosteels and Susan Buck-Morss.
