The Kitchen

Tracing Creative Destruction with David Harvey and Matthew Buckingham

A conversation between the author of Rebel Cities and Matthew Buckingham

The Kitchen is organizing an exhibition around creative destruction, bringing together a variety of interdisciplinary perspectives to explore creative destruction and an artistic strategy of rearticulation. A series of events investigates the creative process of rearticulation in the realm of public space, cultural production and economics--- three key sectors under critical re-evaluation in the wake of the ongoing financial crisis.

As part of this series, David Harvey, author of Rebel Cities, will lead a reading group in conversation with the artist Matthew Buckingham. This two-part program features a reading group followed by a conversation led by the guest speakers. Both will critically explore the historical trajectory of creative destruction as a concept, focusing particularly on how the term has been used more recently to tout the benefits of the neoliberal project. Reading material will be provided in advance.

Please register for 3 pm Reading Group by emailing creativedestruction.isp@gmail.com.
6 pm conversation is open to the public.
