Verso author Nick Turse wins Izzy Award

Verso author Nick Turse's dedication to giving voice to civilian victims of US military interventions has earned him the sixth annual Izzy Award, given in the memory of I.F. Stone, for outstanding achievement in independent media.

Turse's 2010 book, The Case for Withdrawal in Afghanistan, collected the sharp insights of politicians, military strategists and commentators to refute the claim that the United States was justly occupying Afghanistan.
