WIN EVERYTHING! Hacking the Urban Dictionary

Blagging. Hero shot. Ruin porn. Edgework. Trojan horse exploit. Tweeker. Chimping.

While unfamiliar to the average city-dweller, these words dominate the world of place-hacking and urban exploration; a coded language that takes you to the edge of the city, it’s forgotten tunnels and unfinished skyscrapers.

Today (Mon 29th Sep) and tomorrow we’re giving away 10 copies of the new paperback of Explore Everything: Place-Hacking the City by Bradley Garrett - a gonzo road trip of urban exploration revealing the most exciting secret, hidden and forgotten parts of our cities. You will also win a Verso tote bag filled with urban reading goodies including Keller Easterling, Patrick Keiller & David Harvey!

To win a copy, all you have to do is send us your best photos!

We’ll be picking out some place-hacking terms from the Explore Everything glossary and want you to send us your photographic versions of them using the hashtag #exploreeverything! Witty twists on psychogeography, literal or metaphorical interpretations of the term, emojis, old photos, new photos, holiday snaps, pictures: all entries are welcome! DISCLAIMER: PLEASE DON’T GET ARRESTED!

The term that we have picked for Tuesday 30th is #heroshot - defined in the Explore Everything glossary as " A highly stylised photo of an urban explorer looking smug about an accomplishment in a location."

Send us your best hero shot by 18.00EST to be in with a chance of winning! See here to see Bradley Garrett's hero shot on one of his many exploits.

The serious stuff:

The competition will start at 09.00 EST on Monday 29th October and end 18.00 EST on Tuesday 30th October. All entries must be posted on twitter along with the hashtag #exploreeverything. You can enter as many times as you like!

We’ll announce 5 winners at the end of each day. Each winner will win a paperback of Explore Everything and a Verso tote bag filled with some urban reading. We’ll tweet the winner under the hashtag #exploreeverything.

The competition is open to readers anywhere in the world as long as you have a working shipping address.

This is a photo/image only competition: you can send in pictures of yourself, someone you know (please get their permission!), pictures of people you don’t know, animals, lego people, politicians you want to make fun of, funny images or cartoons (the more creative the better) – with or without caption.

Apologies, but this is a twitter only competition!
