#makeallwomensafe
On International Women’s Day we strike against the sexist, racist and criminal laws that jeopardise the lives of sex workers. Support the English Collective of Prostitutes by reading the following and signing the petition to decriminalise prostitution.
The Campaign
The English Collective of Prostitutes, a sex worker organisation, is campaigning for the decriminalisation of sex work in the UK. Why? Well despite the selling and buying of sex being completely legal there are three laws—soliciting, brothel-keeping and controlling—which surround it, that are making it much more dangerous and ironically harder to leave.
Whatever your personal opinions are on sex work, there is one thing we should all agree on, and that’s that every woman deserves the same rights to safety.

More about English Collective of Prostitutes
The ECP is a national organisation of sex workers fighting for decriminalisation of sex work, for safety, for rights and for economic alternatives so that women can leave prostitution if they choose. They are based at the Crossroads Women’s Centre in North London.
Since they were founded in 1975 they’ve won many important victories including the first ever private prosecution for rape in England and Wales, which saw a serial rapist, who attacked women at knifepoint, imprisoned for 14 years.
ECP spokeswomen have taken part in many live TV and radio debates, including The Victoria Derbyshire Show and BBC Women’s Hour, and have contributed to a wide range of publications from The Guardian to Gentlewoman Magazine, publicising the case for decriminalisation and shining a light on the impact of current laws and policies, police abuse, violence against sex workers and how austerity cuts, have forced more women, particularly mothers, into prostitution.
Decriminalisation is supported by prestigious organisations such as: Royal College of Nursing, Women Against Rape and internationally by Amnesty International, the World Health Organisation, UNAIDS, Human Rights Watch, Global Alliance against Trafficking in Women among others.
