Is capitalism ending or will it recover? With the global financial crisis of 2008, the global economy has been catapulted into crisis. Our economic system can no longer be sustained by our planet and increasing inequality and social insecurity are eating away at the very core of economic and political legitimacy. And yet, if capitalism can no longer continue, what might replace it? What part might progressive social movements play in shaping the contours of a post-capitalist future and what role for critique? Join Klaus Dörre and Emma Dowling to discuss some of the themes of the new book Sociology, Crisis, Critique by Klaus Doerre, Hartmut Rosa and Stephan Lessenich.
Emma Dowling is Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Middlesex University. She is the author of a forthcoming book on the crisis of care with Verso.
The event is free but booking is essential. To RSVP click here.
