How is art-making a part of our everyday and political lives as we move, together and apart, through space? Annie-B Parson, choreographer and co-founder of the Obie and Bessie Award–winning Big Dance Theater, comes to BAM to discuss her beautiful exploration of how dance is embedded everywhere, from Homer’s Odyssey to feminist art to social protest. She is joined in conversation by writer Jordan Kisner at this pre-publication event, which also includes a reading from the book, audience questions, and a book signing.
The evening begins with an optional choreographic dance party—simple enough for beginners, stylish enough for professionals—led by Parson. Join in at 7pm to enhance your awareness of what it means to move as a body in space, or arrive in time for the reading and conversation beginning at 7:30pm.
