Improving our work policies
We take very seriously all the issues that have been raised. We deeply regret that Verso’s grievance procedures proved inadequate, and take full responsibility for this. We know we need to make significant changes.
We are committed to providing a safe and fair working environment, and will continue working closely with all staff as we develop new approaches to strengthen our workplace.
We are unionizing in both offices (with the Washington-Baltimore News Guild in the US, and the National Union of Journalists in the UK), improving HR structures, and thoroughly revising our policies and procedures on harassment and bullying (in conjunction with the WBNG and NUJ). We are developing an all-staff program that includes unconscious bias and diversity training, management training, and other areas that require improvement as identified by staff.
