Communism, A New Beginning? conference now online

We're pleased to finally post video from our Communism, A New Beginning? conference from back in October in the debut of our incredibly novel YouTube page. It's an interesting look back to a weekend of what was the first month anniversary of Occupy Wall Street; around when Étienne Balibar spoke on "Communism as Commitment, Imagination, and Politics," peaceful protesters just uptown at Times Square were arrested and en route to Central Booking.

Here is a guide to the talks given at this conference:

DAY 1

Alain Badiou: Politics and State, Mass Movement and Terror (presented by Bruno Bosteels)

Frank Ruda: Remembering the Impossible. For a Meta-critical Anamnesis of Communism

DAY 2

Bruno Bosteels: On the Christian Question

Susan Buck-Morss: Communism and Ethics

Adrian Johnston: From Scientific Socialism to Socialist Science: Naturdialektik Then and Now

Étienne Balibar: Communism as Commitment, Imagination, and Politics

DAY 3

Jodi Dean: Communist Desire

Slavoj Žižek: Freedom in the Clouds

Watch all eleven and a half hours of the conference on our playlist here.

Greetings.  At the time of the conference, Verso hosted a live stream of comments.
I've lost  my record of one commenter--then in Woodstock VT, USA-- who was hosting an ongoing program and Avital Ronell was associated with it; This June's EGS session ends today, so they may be resuming something, maybe.  I'd like to connect with that now.  I'd like that name/email address.  Are those comments posted somewhere I'm not finding?  Thanks,  Jane:  <threeskies@gmail.com>

“The market was very much focused on the high street, and as far as the internet was concerned, the belief was that other businesses were better placed. To us, that seemed harsh. http://www.askdebthelp.com

Crash dieting is a tempting way to lose weight. Dieters see weight come off more quickly than those who follow a balanced diet plan. However, the majority of the weight loss is from water retention, and most crash dieters regain the weight just as quickly as they lost it when they return to their normal eating patterns. http://www.theweightlossdiets.com

How about working 80 hours a week for the most formative years of one's life while incurring loads of debt and not seeing one's family or friends, all while being 100% altruistic and caring for the most ill and often shunned members of society, like alcoholics and drug addicts. http://www.medicalstudentguide.eu
