We're giving away 10 copies of Lefebvre's Critique of Everyday Life!

21 May 2014

We're giving away 10 copies of Lefebvre's Critique of Everyday Life!

"Clever images of the everyday are supplied on a day-to-day basis, images that can make the ugly beautiful, the empty full, the sordid elevated, and the hideous 'fascinating'... It is indeed very difficult to resist being seduced and fascinated by them, except by becoming rigidly puritanical, and, in rejecting 'sensationalism', rejecting 'the present' and life itself." - Henri Lefebvre, The Critique of Everyday Life

To celebrate the launch of Lefebvre's essential analysis of daily life under capitalism, available for the first time in one complete volume, we're giving away 10 free copies.

What makes you angry about daily life in capitalist society? Lefebvre found both oppression and resistance in the small details of everyday life and wrote about it in 848 pages - but we want to hear from you in just one sentence!

To be in with a chance of winning, send us your critique of everyday life, summed up in one line! Extra points will be given for wit, humor, snark, bracing observation, giddy optimism/pessimism, anachronisms, Lefebvre references, and emoji.

Send in your entry by commenting below, tweeting us (using the hashtag #Lefebvre) or posting on our Facebook wall.

The competition starts today (Wednesday, May 21st) and ends on Friday, May 23, at 17:00 EST / 22.00 GMT. It is open to readers anywhere in the world (provided you have a working shipping address). You can enter as many times as you like. Winners will be picked by Verso and the winning entries will be posted on our blog after the competition has ended.

Any queries may be directed to verso@versobooks.com

For one week only (starting today, and ending at midnight on Wednesday May 28) The Critique of Everyday Life is 50% off on our website (with free shipping and bundled ebook).
