US Bookkeeper or Controller

Verso Books—the largest independent, radical publisher in the English-speaking world—is looking for a bookkeeper or controller for its US operation, based in Brooklyn, New York. Depending on qualifications, experience and availability, this is likely to be a part-time position, but it is open to negotiation and career development. We offer full benefits (including healthcare and pension), and a competitive salary.

You would be responsible for entering all bills, invoices and payments, as well as importing and reconciling bank and credit card statements—Verso’s accounts are managed in Xero, and our sales, contracts and royalties are managed in Virtusales’ Biblio. An understanding of the principles of accounting (and accounting software) is required, and some knowledge of the economics of book publishing would be an advantage. An interest in Verso’s intellectual and political project would be welcome.

UK Financial Accountant - Full Time

Verso Books—the largest independent, radical publisher in the English-speaking world—is looking for a full-time financial accountant for its London office.

You would be responsible for daily bookkeeping, including entering all bills, invoices and payments, as well as importing and reconciling bank and credit card statements (in Xero). In addition you would be responsible for processing our sales and royalty data and payments (in Virtusales’ Biblio). You would also be creating monthly management accounts and be responsible for processing payroll and managing our pension scheme.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years experience, with experience of Xero software preferable. Knowledge of the economics of book publishing would be an advantage and an interest in Verso’s intellectual and political project would also be welcome.
