Introducing the Essential Psychoanalysis series
Recent years have seen a return to psychoanalytic thinking as a way of understanding the modern condition. Writers have sought to explore the connections between personal experience and the wider political realm. There has been a return to thinkers such as Sigmund Freud, Jacques Lacan, Melanie Klein as significant guides to the present.
In the new Essential Psychoanalysis series, Verso revives the work of some of its major writers, using an analytic lens. The series launches with Juliet Mitchell's groundbreaking work, Psychoanalysis and Feminism, with a new introduction from the author. Alongside Edward Said's final lecture, held at the Freud Museum, in Freud and the Non European, wherein he challenges the eurocentrism of the Viennese thinker.
In the future the series will explore works from Freud's own archive, Bifo's dramatic take on heroism and suicide, Jacques Lacan's life, theories of the unconscious and the dialectics of liberation.
