Verso US—Digital Marketing Strategist

Verso’s NY office is looking for a Digital Marketing Strategist to design and commission dynamic digital content across all online channels—website, social media, and direct marketing—and deploy those assets in marketing campaigns across Verso’s list. We are looking for someone who can analyze user data and research potential new audiences, execute  effective digital marketing campaigns, keep them within budget, and assess the results.

We are looking for a strategic problem-solver who knows the power of digital content to engage potential customers and improve their perception and understanding of our products and brand. Our ideal candidate can work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to integrate strategy, execution and analysis. They will be able to design or commission graphic and audiovisual assets around key books, authors and debates in left politics, and will be excited to engage with these debates wherever they are happening. We are looking for someone who will use up-to-date tools and analytics to develop effective, evidence-based marketing campaigns to drive broader and deeper engagement with Verso’s books, authors, ideas and arguments.

The Digital Marketing Strategist will work closely with the US and UK marketing and publicity departments, as well as Verso’s editorial team, to assess and develop Verso’s digital marketing strategy. Their primary responsibilities will be to develop digital assets and marketing campaigns to grow Verso’s audience in North America, project a cohesive brand identity with clear value propositions on different channels, and drive engagement—including buying, reading, discussing, and teaching our books.

The Digital Strategist will work with a team to develop Verso’s North American marketing strategy and lead campaigns for select books, book series, backlist titles and digital products across a wide range of subject areas. They will be responsible for commissioning or designing digital assets, executing campaigns, and analyzing results. They will also be working on Verso’s transition to a new (redesigned and rebuilt) website this Fall, and using a newly available suite of software tools to improve all relevant metrics for audience engagement and direct sales.

A minimum of three years of marketing/design/communications experience at an intermediate level for a publishing, media or mission-driven organization is required for this position. An understanding of Verso’s intellectual background and political project, the subject areas we publish in, video and audio production, as well as fluency in Spanish, would be advantageous. This is a new position at Verso with a wide range of exciting opportunities for growth.

This is a full-time position working out of our Brooklyn office—initially remotely due to COVID-19, but it will become a flexible, hybrid working schedule later this year. The salary range is $60k–70k depending on experience. Benefits include fully funded health, vision and dental insurance, a 401k with an employer match, 25 days vacation, plus 16 days of federal and seasonal holidays.
