The Academic and Direct Marketing Associate/Coordinator will lead Verso’s US academic marketing and further develop our direct marketing program, with a focus on promoting a range of academic titles. They will work closely with US and UK marketing and publicity departments as well as editors to develop marketing and publicity strategies for frontlist and backlist titles across a wide range of subject areas, including political and social theory, history, economics, cultural theory, international politics, and philosophy.

The Academic and Direct Marketing Associate/Coordinator will be responsible for generating direct and academic marketing plans and overseeing their execution and results. They will also be responsible for regular communication with a network of scholarly contacts to ensure widespread course adoption of frontlist and backlist titles.  

Two years of marketing experience, preferably in publishing or media, is required, as well as a thorough knowledge of Verso’s political project and the subject areas we publish in, and a detailed understanding of US academic institutions and programs. We are looking for someone who will be able to develop a rigorous, evidence-based academic and direct marketing program using up-to-date software and analytics, in order to drive engagement with Verso’s books, authors, ideas and arguments.  

This is a full-time position working out of our Brooklyn office—initially remotely due to COVID-19, but it will become a hybrid working schedule later this year. The salary range is $50k–70k depending on experience. Benefits include fully funded health, vision and dental insurance, a 401k with an employer match, and 25 days of vacation plus federal holidays.
