June 5 is Naksa Day | Reading List
To commemorate Nakba Day, we present a reading list on the history of settler violence, global resistance, and Palestinian art and identity.
During the Six-Day War, which began June 5, 1967, the Israeli military took control of Palestinian territories, bringing destruction to Palestinian villages and displacing hundreds of thousands of civilians. Naksa Day (June 5) commemorates these displaced Palestinians and demands that we never forget the ongoing horrors brought upon the Palestinian people by Israel and its allies in the West.
In the wake of Israel's expanison in 1967, Ghassan Kanafani wrote Palestinian Resistance Literature Under Occupation, 1948-1968, which has now been translated into English for the first time and will be available this October.
